Never has there been a better reason to join this Section. Recent estimates indicate that approximately 30% of the Ontario Bar work in the traditional public sector or in the broader public sector. Formed in 2000, the Public Sector Lawyers’ Section is a vehicle to promote the collective interests of the many lawyers who give advice that reflects consideration of the public interest. These include lawyers who work in the traditional three levels of government, universities, professionally regulated bodies and other organizations that govern the public interest. All are united by the common thread that requires legal advice to reflect the consideration of public interest. This Section offers a unique forum to exchange ideas, to network, to learn practices and procedures used by counterparts, and to promote career development.
